For the home

The garage door is a third of what people see from the street

Stand across the road from almost any South African house and look at it honestly. The garage door is frequently the single largest visual element on the front elevation — larger than the front door, larger than any window, and usually the first thing that ages.

Which makes it the cheapest meaningful upgrade available to a homeowner. A new sectional door on a tired 1980s face-brick house changes the face of the property for a fraction of what a facelift costs, and unlike a kitchen it is visible from the pavement on the day a buyer drives past.

Beyond the looks, a residential door has a job to do: it is the largest opening in your security envelope, and it is the one most people forget about. A door that no longer seals, no longer locks or no longer closes fully is not a maintenance item. It is a way in.

  • Single, double, triple and non-standard openings
  • Steel, aluminium, meranti and fibreglass
  • Colours matched to the house or the estate spec
  • Automation sized to the door and the household
  • Old door removed and taken away
  • 12-month workmanship guarantee, in writing

A pair of singles rather than one double. It costs a little more and it gives you redundancy — when one motor fails, you can still get a car out.

Residential work

What we do for homes across Gauteng

From a single door on a Brakpan bungalow to forty matched doors in a Waterfall estate.

Freestanding homes

The bread and butter. Measure, advise, supply, fit, automate, guarantee. Usually a day, occasionally two if the opening needs attention.

  • Free on-site measure
  • One written price

Complexes and estates

Where the door must match forty others exactly. Bring us the body corporate spec — or a photo of the neighbour's door — and we will match the profile and the colour.

  • Spec-matched
  • Body corporate friendly

Older and character homes

Openings in the older Gauteng suburbs match nothing in any catalogue. We build to the opening rather than forcing a standard door into it.

  • Custom sizes
  • Timber frames restored

Automation and upgrades

Turning a manual door automatic, replacing a labouring motor, adding battery backup and app control to a door that is otherwise perfectly good.

  • R4 500 – R9 500 fitted

Security upgrades

Reinforced bottom rails, better locking, rolling-code receivers that cannot be captured from the pavement, and doors that actually seal against the floor.

  • Rolling-code remotes

Pre-sale sorting

A door that judders and grinds on show day is a discount the buyer will ask for. A service, or a new door, pays for itself in the negotiation.

  • Quick turnaround

Choosing for a home

Six questions we ask before we recommend anything

The answers change the door. This is the conversation we have in the driveway.

How many cars, how many trips?A busy family door needs heavier springs and a stronger motor.

What does the house look like?Charcoal aluminium on a Tuscan face-brick house is a mistake. So is meranti on a stark modern box.

Is there a body corporate spec?If there is, it wins. We will match it exactly.

How much headroom is there? It rules doors in and out before budget ever enters the conversation.

Will you maintain a wooden door?Be honest. If not, buy steel with a wood-grain finish.

Load shedding? If the answer is yes — and it is — the motor needs battery backup.

Three doors, one opening line, one colour. Matching hardware across all three means one service visit and one set of spares, not three.

FAQ

Residential questions

Sizes, estates, security and what a new door does for the house.

Still not sure?

Send us a photo of your garage door on WhatsApp. We can usually tell you what has failed before we load the van.

What size is a standard residential garage door in South Africa?

Common single doors run roughly 2 400 – 2 600mm wide and 2 100 – 2 400mm high; doubles are around 4 800 – 5 000mm wide. But "standard" is a slippery word in the older Gauteng suburbs, where openings were built to whatever the bricklayer had that week. We measure rather than assume.

Should I fit one double door or two singles?

A single double door is usually cheaper, seals better and looks cleaner. Two singles give you redundancy — one motor fails and you can still get a car out — and they suit homes where the pillar between the openings is structural. Your opening usually makes the decision for you.

Will a new garage door add value to my house?

It certainly affects what people feel when they pull up outside, which is not nothing when a buyer is forming a first impression from the pavement. At the very least, a door that grinds, judders and hangs skew on show day is a lever the buyer will use in the negotiation.

Can you match the doors in my complex?

Yes, and we do it constantly. Most complexes and estates specify a profile and a colour. Send us the body corporate spec, or simply a clear photo of a neighbour's door, and we will match it.

Is a garage door a security risk?

It is the largest opening in your security envelope, and it is the one most people never think about. A door that does not seal to the floor, does not lock, or can be lifted by hand from outside is a genuine weakness. Reinforced bottom rails, proper locking and rolling-code receivers all address it, and none of them cost much.
