The driveways slope, frequently steeply, and a great many of them slope towards the garage rather than away from it. The consequences are entirely predictable: rusted bottom rails on steel doors, rotten bottom rails on timber ones, corroded track fixings and floor seals that gave up years ago. Two things, and both matter. First, a proper floor seal on the door — a good rubber seal that genuinely meets the slab rather than hovering above it. Second, and more important, look at the fall of the driveway: if it runs towards the garage, a channel drain across the entrance will do more than any seal ever can.
My garage door rattles and whistles in the wind. Is that fixable?
Yes, and cheaply. Rattling means the door is loose in its tracks — usually worn rollers or slack in the hardware. Whistling means the side seals have perished. Both are routine, inexpensive repairs, and on the ridge they make a real difference.
My garage is under the house with a low ceiling. What door can I fit?
Very often a roller door, because it needs almost no ceiling space — the curtain rolls into a drum above the opening and nothing runs back along the roof. Where there is a little more room, a low-headroom sectional track system may work. We measure before we recommend.
Can your vehicle get up my driveway?
Almost certainly, and where it cannot we work around it. Mention the gradient when you phone and we will plan for it rather than discover it.
