When to call it an emergency
A door that will not close is a security problem, not a maintenance job
We treat four situations as genuine emergencies, and we say so plainly because plenty of companies will happily book you in for Thursday while your garage stands open to the street.
The door is stuck open. Whatever is in that garage — the car, the bicycles, the tools, the door into the kitchen — is now available to anybody walking past. This gets a same-day response, and if we cannot restore the door to working order on the spot, we will secure the opening so that you can sleep.
The door is jammed shut and your car is inside. You have somewhere to be. We can almost always release the door manually and get the vehicle out, then deal with the repair properly.
The door is hanging skew. A cable has snapped. Every further attempt to open it bends panels and twists the frame, and a R900 cable turns into a R6 000 door.
The door came down hard. If a spring lets go while the door is up, the door drops. If someone was underneath it, that is a hospital matter, not a garage door one. If nobody was, phone us before anyone tries to lift it.

For genuine emergencies, yes — a door stuck open, a door jammed with a car inside, a door hanging off its track. What we will not do is pretend a routine service is an emergency in order to charge for it. If it can honestly wait until Monday, we will tell you so and book you in.
How much does an emergency garage door callout cost?
The callout is quoted before we drive out, and it is carried into the repair price if the work goes ahead. After-hours and Sunday callouts cost more than a Tuesday morning — that is honest, and you will know the number before we leave the workshop, not after we arrive.
How fast can you get to me?
Across most of Gauteng we aim for same-day, and for a genuine security emergency we will move the diary around to do it. In the far West Rand and the Vaal it is same-day where the diary allows and first thing the following morning where it does not. We will give you a straight answer on the phone.
My garage door is stuck open and it is late. What now?
Phone us. If we cannot get to you before dark, we will talk you through securing it as best you can, and we will be there first thing. If we can get to you, we will — and if the repair itself cannot be finished on the spot, we will secure the opening properly before we leave.
My car is locked inside the garage. Can you get it out?
Almost always. There is a manual release on every automated door, and where the door itself is jammed we can usually lift and prop it safely enough to get the vehicle out. That is the first thing we do when we arrive — you can sort the rest out afterwards.
Can a broken garage door spring hurt somebody?
Yes, and it does. A torsion spring under tension holds a serious amount of energy, and the door it was holding up can come down with real force. Keep people away from underneath it and do not attempt the repair yourself — this is one of the few genuinely dangerous jobs on a house.
